interview australiaInterview Australia:
Hi Paul, tell me a little bit about your background and how you came about to set up your archery and gymnastics business, ArcSports in Perth Western Australia?

husband and wife teamPaul from ArcSports
I was a gymnast in my youth and loved training and competing. It was a natural progression to move from competing to teaching and this really took off when I began teaching my own children and running classes for school groups. Archery has always been another of my passions. And not just target practice, but also the fun and excitement of archery sports.

interview australiaInterview Australia:
What is archery sports?

husband and wife teamPaul from ArcSports
Archery sports for kids can be a number of things and I run a number of different interactive games that teach students speed, accuracy, and team work. Many of the games have an element of hunting in teams.

interview australiaInterview Australia:
What exactly are they hunting!?

husband and wife teamPaul from ArcSports
They are hunting other teams of kids, but before you panick, it’s not like the Hunger Games! We have special foam-tipped arrows and the players all wear safety masks. So has the fun and excitement of Paint-balling, but none of the mess. It has the fun and excitement of Laser-tag, but you don’t need to use batteries and there is a more realistic aspect that you don’t get with virtual sports like computer games and laser tag.

interview australiaInterview Australia:
It sounds like a lot of fun, but where do you play these sports – surely you can’t just start playing bow and arrow down at the local, public park?

husband and wife teamPaul from ArcSports
There are a number of places here in Perth that we can play safely and legally. We have a few private properties that we have permission to play on, but when we are approached by clients who are wanting to have parties or classes, then we find a location that is close to them, and we are fully mobile in that we can take all of our archery sports equipment (including our inflatable target range), and all of our gymnastic equipment to almost any location in Western Australia.

interview australiaInterview Australia:
I’m glad that you mentioned gymnastics, because I wanted to ask about that too. What ages do you teach gymnastics to?

husband and wife teamPaul from ArcSports
We run a number of gymnastic classes for ages 2 to 17 and we run archery classes for ages 6 to 17.
