Interviewer: What is the Hayfever Rap all about?
Heath John: Well it is all just a bit of fun really. I have suffered from hay fever for as long as I can remember and I write a lot of comedy stuff like sketch show type things and stand-up comedy material. I love watching comedy sketch shows and funny videos on youtube, so the Hayfever rap was really born out of my frustration and my love of writing.
Interviewer: Do you have a musical background?
Heath John: No, not at all. I can’t really sing very well, but realized that you don’t need to be able to hold a lot of notes to be able to rap. You just need to be able to keep your timing to a beat. I was going to get a “professional” to rap it, but I figured it is not a serious musical balad, it’s more of an entertaining, fun parody style rap song. People are more likely to get a laugh from it than be impressed by my musical genius! I think a lot of people can really relate to the day to day difficulties that allergies can cause.
